You know how it is when you have all sorts of plans and projects, and you make mental notes of them as they occur to you, and resolve to get to them later when you have time, but you never have time, so you never get to them, so the mental notes fade away into dust? Welcome to life! Hopefully the things we are busy with are more important than the ideas we file away for “later.” Sure it’s frustrating, but have you ever thought about how much worse it would be if you were so used to that process that you didn’t even bother to get good ideas anymore? That’s kind of the point of life, time, temporality, all that stuff. It forces us to prioritize, while the constant longing for all the other goodness that we just don’t have time for is a reminder that we were made for something more.
Those are just some random Friday morning thoughts. Enough philosophizing!
Last weekend was Evie’s first trip to the zoo! The weather was gray and off-and-on rainy, of course, but that’s just life in the PNW (Pacific North West). We are hoping that some of that rain becomes snow on the mountain, so that Crystal ski resort can open up early and we can go skiing for Kathleen’s birthday… but I digress.
The Point Defiance Zoo is a small zoo, but they have critters there, and that’s what counts. Evie was also tired and cranky from not napping, but still always up for being outside and seeing new things.
We saw wolves:And fish: And puffins:And seals:
Evie tried to feed the birds, but she has trouble holding stillSo Mommy fed them while Evie tried to grab them.
I always thought that feeding the birds cost tuppence a bag, but the zoo charges $1.50 a stick! Talk about inflation! But the absolute best was seeing the polar bear!
We also saw elephants, which are Daddy’s favorite! On sunday we drove up to Bonney Lake to attend a birthday party for Kathleen’s Cousin’s oldest son. It was good for Evie to meet some relatives she has not seen before, and for them to meet her.Monday was MC, as usual. Evie always likes to go to MC and hang out with all her Aunties and Uncles. She found Uncle Adam’s hat and Aunt Maryanne put it on her head, but that was not what Evie had in mind. She wanted to eat it!
Keep Uncle Adam and Aunt Maryanne in your prayers. Evie’s new baby cousin is due any day now! Then there will be two Kraeger cousins on the West Coast!
Then let the Shenanigans begin!
And that’s all for this week. Keep us in your prayers, and we are praying for y’all. God bless!
